Where Is My Bus?

The Franklin Regional Transit Authority (FRTA) coordinates the EMPLOYMENT TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM to provide transportation for eligible individuals between home and work, including pickup/dropoff at their children’s daycare.  This project is specifically for individuals working either 2nd or 3rd shifts that are living in the Franklin County or North Quabbin Region and working within Franklin County.  This project can provide transportation to individuals on a short-term or long-term basis based on their individual needs.

You will be responsible for knowing the following rules and policies as outlined in the guidelines below.

 GUIDELINES

MASSACHUSETTS LAW REQUIRES: that a child restraint device be used when any child twelve (12) years or younger is riding in a non-exempt motor vehicle.  All participants must use a suitable car seat belt each and every time their child is being transported by the Employment Transportation Program in any type of vehicle.  Please be aware that it is your responsibility to provide a car seat for your child.  If you do not have a car seat, please contact the FRTA.

YOUR SCHEDULE:  FRTA is partnering with local taxi and other livery transportation providers that will provide your transportation.  Transportation will be arranged with one provider to ensure consistency for both you and the transportation provider.

As this is still considered public transportation, many riders may be scheduled on the same route and it is possible that you may arrive earlier than you need to, in order to accommodate the needs of all of the riders.

YOU MUST BE READY BEFORE YOUR RIDE ARRIVES:  You should be ready and waiting 10 minutes before your scheduled pick up time.

NOTE:  The driver will wait no longer than 5 minutes at each stop.

THE ROUTE IS FIXED:  Please do not ask the driver to pick you up or drop you off at a different time or place than you are scheduled.

CHANGES TO YOUR SCHEDULE:  If changes to your schedule are necessary, please call the FRTA as soon as possible to accommodate changes and avoid disruptions in your transportation.

CANCELLATIONS:  All cancellations must be made in advance of your scheduled ride by calling your ride provider and the FRTA.  Failure to call may result in loss of transportation and termination of this contract.

Once your ride has been set up by the FRTA, you will be notified of your pick-up times and ride provider.  Again, if you need to cancel a ride for any reason please call the provider who transports you, and the FRTA.

If the FRTA or your ride providers office is closed, please leave a message on the answering machine stating the following:

Your name and the date you are calling, the day and date of the ride you need to cancel.

NO SHOW POLICY:  Any rider who does not show up for or call to cancel their scheduled ride, will be considered a no show for that entire day.

THIS CONTRACT WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE CANCELLED AFTER 3 NO SHOWS!

FARES:  Fares are calculated for each one-way trip taken to and from your home and work and an invoice will be sent to you on a monthly basis for payment.  There will be no fares for the first month of transportation.  For the second month the fare will be $1.50-$2.00 for each one-way trip.  For the third month and beyond the fare will be $3.00-$4.00 for each one-way trip.  Trip information will be submitted to the FRTA by each of the transportation providers and fares will be calculated based on that information.  It is imperative that you follow the cancellation policy as stated above to ensure invoices are correctly calculated.

COVID-19:  As per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention federal mask requirement and the Transportation Security Administration security directive, masks must be worn on board vehicles under this program at all times.  The following exemptions not required to wear masks include:

  • Children under the age of 2.
  • People with disabilities who cannot wear a mask, or cannot safely wear a mask, because of the disability as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (42 U.S.C. 12101 et seq.).
  • People for whom wearing a mask would create a risk to workplace health, safety, or job duty as determined by the relevant workplace safety guidelines or federal regulations.
